Foundation Settlement
Foundation settlement or movement can be a result of a few different situations.
- Poorly compacted soil under and around the foundation is high on the list of contributing factors.
- Clay soils expand and contract resulting in foundation movement. This is often a seasonal effect during wetting and drying cycles.
- Hillside creep is a problem related to building too close to an unstable hillside or on fill material or retaining wall.
The list above and other situations can put your foundation at risk and unable to support the structure and settling.
The good news is a very high percentage of these homes are repairable. And after the repair is completed you can enjoy your home without concern that the problems will reoccur.
